I have always Been a fan of JBL, but never had any until this last summer when we got our Home Theater 90% completed. We have the JBL 2360a horns with EV DH1a drivers. We have diy 1/4 pie bass bins with Danley DTS10 subs. The speakers are biamped with minidsps, and the horns are powered by Topping t chip amps. The base bins are powered by Yamaha pro amps, with the subs powered by a Yamaha pro amp.

I like smooth HF and deep low bass. But midbass is not so good and fast. My 4365 and Luxman are very good for jazz, voice, also doom metal. But not so good for symfonic orchestral and extreme metal, such as black and death metal. |

Hmm...one of the things 4365 do best to my ears is the way they play in the midbass. I just love the physical chest punch they deliver when I got past twelv o'clock on the volume control. Maybe your Luxman is to "kind" ? When I used two Mc 275, there was no chance to reach the same punch as with the bigger boys out there. But they were very musical engaging, it was just the lack of power that have me replace them for bigger and more powerful amps. That said, I somethimes miss the 275's, and the way thay play music. That's one of the reasons I now are very curious on the Mc1.2kw's. I believe/hope that theese big amps can end my search for the perfect amp on 4365. What do you guys think ? |

Yes, you are right!
Luxman is "kind" and soft. Using 4365 with Coda TS getting midbass much better. |

Well, I was so lucky to get my hands on a Mc-452 yesterday. My plan is to check out this amp before take the chance on a pair of Mc1.2kw. After what I have been reading, Mc-452 represents the new generation of Mc amps with brighter sound and a more upfront presentation.
After 20 stright ours playing, where I have been sitting down and listening for an our or two in between other things to do, things are beginning to seems clear to me. Mc-452 compared to my two ATI 3002 (bi-amp setup) are sounding a bit warmer and is no fatigue sounding at all. Specially when playing loud the Mc-452 shows it's class, you just wants to play louder and louder. The bassdrum on my jbl 4365 is a little bit softer through 452, but not as much as it does matter. Mc-452 make me want to try the 1.2kw's. Probably will do in a week or so. |
