Probably a REALLY dumb question-bought an MB50, I assume I no longer need the Sonos?
I assume, always a bad idea, that the MB50 would replace the functionality of the Sonos, is that correct? Got a steal on the MB so I had to jump on it, even though I rarely listen to digital music, but might just start now. Thanks!

It should replace a single Sonos endpoint - and you get Hi-Rez up to 24/192. Before you kick your Sonos to the curb I’d make sure you like the McIntosh app.

I sold my MB50. Kind of pain to get it too work. When it did work, sounded ok.
Good luck. I hope you have better results.

So...I've been using the MB50 for a few days. First day was really frustrating, mainly because the manual wasn't helpful for me and I couldn't seem to get the wifi hooked up and hear anything. Called McIntosh and Chuck was helpful. Switched the XLRs around and it worked, then switched them back to Balanced 2 on my C2500 and it still worked. So not sure what that was about. Since then, seems to work fine. Amazon Music sucked though as you can't (or I can't) access My Music that I purchased on Amazon. The sound was good though using their "channels" - ended up ditching Amazon even after chatting with them, they were less than helpful. Spotify sounds good though. What's interesting is that when you use Spotify, you use the Spotify App to control everything and choose songs. When you use Amazon, it goes only through Play Fi. It has dropped a song every once in awhile but that seems to happen when I'm doing something else on the phone but otherwise the MB50 seems good and looks pretty.

I also learned something new - tidal and qobuz don't sound any better at all than spotify. zero difference and yes, my hearing is fine not sure what all the fuss is about. and yes, I have the hi rez subscription - smoke and mirrors for me. but then again, vinyl sounds better than all of them to me. Can't beat that sound

Yes, I agree with your assessment comparing Spotify with Tidal, etc. I too fail to see all the fuss and my gear is decent nearly all McIntosh. even 24\96 and especially 24/192 files purchased, downloaded and played back sound awesome, so it isn't my gear or ears, not my imagination. IMHO, steaming lacks that special something, though not nearly as bad as SiriusXM. Yuck! Talk about your underwater sound quality..

Agreed. I mainly stick with vinyl, the sound with my tube preamp and SS amp is just amazing to me. Nothing beats it - digital is too analytical for me. No warmth or presence.

U-turn
Hello McGuy -
See you have a U-turn turntable - what are your thoughts on this? Thinking about getting into vinyl, and U-turn looks like a reasonable way to start. Plus they are made 15 miles from my home in metro-west Boston. Support a local start-up isn't a bad way to go if it makes sense.

I started with a Pro-Ject DC Esprit TT, loved it but had no frame of reference, even after having others, fantastic unit for the money. Bought a lake house so needed a TT for it but didn't want to get another pro-ject since we aren't up there that often. I got the U-Turn Orbit Plus - honestly, sounds great to me. It's not that expensive and sounds better than anything else in that price range. I'm not so sure the acrylic platter is necessary but the upgraded stylus is - or you can customize the table, costs the same until you get to the cartridges - you can even get an Ortofon 2M Red or Blue. I have the blue currently on my VPI and I like it. You DO need to get the cue up lever for sure, think it's only $40.
