Hi Logey, something similar happened to me I have the silverbacks but wanted to see if the 0/96 would be better for my shindo amps and my dealer was gracious enough to arrange a home demo for me but I ended up still preferring the silverbacks. Just ordered an upgrade kit for them, hope it will turn out for the better

Tristan, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who prefers the SBs over the O's! I'm very interested in hearing how your upgrade goes, that's on my list for the fall.

I guess your SB must be current version whereas mine is the one with the switch for the direct or HT mode. Bet it sounds great with the cortese . I am using a masseto/Montrachet combo in a rather small space and have always wanted to try a single ended amp like the gm70 or cortese. I am also running the gears on 2 mr ts.

Nope, I have the same version as you. When I traded the O's for my dealers SBs he also included an upgrade any time I wanted it. I'm waiting to hear what others say about the upgrade. The Cortese was not a good match with the SB, 16 ohm amp into 8 ohm speaker. I actually had a tube failure as a result. I am now happily running the GM 70s.

I sometimes get the same feeling that 30wpc into 16 ohms from the Montrachet is sometimes underpowered especially if I push it too much. Anyway, just spoke to my dealer and he has already put in the order for the upgrade and I have requested to have it done at my home so to avoid damaging the speakers in transit. So the Gm70 rocks? I really prefer the older version of the Gm70s to the boxy looking new ones so hope that one turn up soon.

Hi Tristan,
I have the Devore Nines and have always been intrigued by the Silverbacks. My room is 18 feet long X 14 feet wide with 9 feet tall ceiling. How big is your audio listening space/room?
Thanks,
Anshul

The SB's would work nicely in that size room, as would either of the Orangutan's. What are you using to drive your Nines?
