Looking forward to reading about the comparison W20 vs NAS.

I have received the software update but have not been bothered to update them yet. Family is back for the school holidays so kind of tied up. I have this idea to convert my favourite songs to DSF then store in the NAS then playback through the network.
Fingers crossed. Regards, Joe Ling

The Transparent Ref XL digital cables have about 180 hours on them...they should be through the breakin process mostly. I can enthusiastically say this is a major upgrade going dual aes vs firewire. Much better resolution, much better demensionality, lower noise (it's so quiet now)...which allows the dynamics and textures to really jump and/or bloom. The clock cables alone were a big improvement. I feel like I got a new digital front end. Substantial improvements across the board...nothing went backwards. I am happy... |

Hi...this is far from scientific, but it's about 50/50. They were both relevant. I know I know..it's clock cable...just timing signal.
Yesterday I had 3 audio buddies over...all with great systems. We put the firewire back in and switched back and forth. It's unmistakable. And not subtle. You could easily do a double blind study and pick with 100% accuracy which cable and digital transmission method used.... The firewire sounds uninteresting, dimensionally flat, lacks energy, and looses a lot of bottom end heft...in comparison. But when you listen deeper...the real missing component is the textures and inflections in each note....I think this is the root of my less interesting comment... Going to lesser clock cables the focus seems off, lower in resolution, more noise. Imagine a SLR camera and your messing with the focus ring... Hope this helps... |

Hi...maybe i wasn't clear enough :-) 4 Transparent Digital Reference XL cables in total. 2 for clock (bnc to bnc) and 2 for AES...so on clock to trans and dac and aes to trans to dac...
