Just received my package from Blade HQ.
The little Schrade will work just fine for its purpose - looks to be nice quality steel that will rip through quite a bit of cardboard before it needs to be re-sharpened. The Boker Kalashnikov? Mine is #590 of the series. The Damascus pattern is fairly nice. The blade edge is fair (not good, or great). I'd put the overall quality of construction as good or a little over for the price.

Thank you Dan & Portugal. Here is another that I bought on the same day. It's a fighter- 5" blade, 10.25" overall, copper collar, stainless steel guard or hilt & ss butt cap or pommel. The sheath is felt-lined African blackwood with a clip. All made in the early 90's by Scott Shoemaker. This is the only fighter I have with a skull-crusher pommel. When I see a picture of one, my first thought is usually - Prussian helmet. This also the only knife I have with ss wire wrapped handle.

Me again. I thought I should post a pic of my avitar-of-the-moment. It was made by Ed Kalfayan. It sports an oosic (or oosik) handle with green fiber spacers & a 4" blade of ats 34 steel,mirror polished, 8.5" overall; a fancy filed blade spine & stainless guard & butt cap. Also a basket weave pattern sheath.
I have one other knife by Ed Kalfayan- a very nice folding dagger. I don't think he has made many folders. I bought the first one I described (oosic handle) ~ 5-6 years ago. I just looked up what I paid for it & was pretty surprised that it was only $250. I'm definitely not a photographer, but one of these days I should try to take some pics of my own to post. John
