better two reasonably priced subs in true stereo configuration then one extremely expensive sub done in summing signal mode.
Question: Would anyone disconnect the woofers section on one channel of main speakers? you say that is a silly question to ask.. Even daring to propose at AA.. Still subwoofers are marketed and sold as one item and in most cases Left / Right channels are summed.. Who came up with that idea? It all started with Stereo or not? Mr. Richard E. Lord was ahead of it's time halveway the nineties. I will quote out of a personal talk with Mr. Lord at an early moment in his business: "If you want even better REL, buy two of em". Did not understand at all at that particular moment in time, it only seemed he wanted to sell me double as many boxes.. Many experiences tought me valued lessons. Mr. Lord was utterly right. Subwoofers in stereo are not even about bass, it's about soundstage. Disclaimer: highly satisfied REL G1 afficionado ! In Two Channel Stereo ;-) |
