Breaking in Wireworld Silver Eclipse Speaker Cables

Definitely don't want to second guess or pre-empt Dan's findings but given my experience with both of these speaker cables that Dan may likely very much enjoy the Wireworlds...

Also +1 with Randy's advice about giving them plenty of time before making any judgements at all. IMHO the 100 hour mark with the Silver Eclipse 6 shows you what they are not and the 300 hour mark gives you an idea of what they become... much happy listening Dan.

Don't have much experience with WireWorld at all other than a digital cable Ivan lent me once which I compared against the Nordost Silver Shadow. Even there the WW was noticeably different, smoother, more organic sound that offered resolution and frequency extension on both ends without being overly analytical. I was impressed.

Dan, looking forward to your findings. I love to play around with audio stuff too.

Thank you for posting the Cardas cable dissertation. I'm pretty much neutral on the whole cable debate. It does raise a couple questions though. Im hoping you can help me out here.

1) "If you measure a new cable with a voltmeter you will see a standing voltage because good dielectrics make poor conductors."

When he refers to dielectrics, is he refering to the capacitive effect of the insulation or the interelement capacitance amongst the individual strands of wire within the bundle? Does this phenomena occur on a single strand, solid conductor?
Does it have to be energized, or can this voltage be measured when the transmission line is just sitting on the kitchen table?
Im not trying to stir it up here. I'm just interested.
We can discuss "static cats" at a later date. Id be interested to hear Jeromes take on that one..

Jack.......I am not going to be able to answer those questions. I am not a cable design engineer. I would expect sophisticated test instruments would be required to obtain the data George Cardas talks about. I do support the notion of cable break in, though. I have experienced cables where a sonic signature improvement took place over a period of time, so I believe break in has merit.

Who cares if cables and gear break in or not... A few hundred or more hours down the road it's all the same, broken in.

Graham.......The good thing is I will be able to do direct comparisons between the two speaker cables at my own pace, not in some show room with a long time period between cable swaps. I will have both cables terminated to the amp at the same time, so switching the terminations on the speaker terminals will be all that's required. I will be using music I am intimately familiar with, listening to speakers I am becoming more familiar with by the hour. Time will tell, and you can be sure I will tell it like I hear it.

I know you're having fun, Dan, and I'll be interested in your impressions after 100 hours--and again after, as Graham suggests, 300. While not directly comparable given the application and model differences, if my experience pitting the Equinox 6 IC's against both Kimber Select hybrid silver-copper and Kimber Silver Streak (also a hybrid) is any guide, I suspect the Eclipses will take the checkered flag. Enjoy.

I'm very interested in your findings as well, Dan. I've been on the fence about a new speaker cable purchase between the Kimber 8TC and the WW Equinox 6. Although the Silver Eclipse is at the other end of WW's line I'm sure your review will push me one way or another.

The Wireworld Silver Eclipse speaker cables have 43 hours on them as of this moment. They are sounding good.
