Oh I can only imagine. All those Platinums sure are pretty to look at though

A quick question about the Platinum compared to the Gold and Silver. With the speaker cables I can see one big factor to the price difference between the Gold and Platinums and that's the size, the Platinums are a larger guage and the Silver's aren't solid silver but rather silver over copper. With respect to the interconnects and HDMI cables, what makes the Platinum's more than the Golds? Is it a more pure silver?

How long are your cables? I'm just curious if you try and keep them at an absolute minimum length or do you ensure you have enough extra length in case gear gets shuffled around at some point in the future requiring a length you may not have planned for? I know I certainly got burned by that. You use mono blocks correct? Are you using short speaker runs and long interconnects or vise versa. I'm curious if you have ever heard a noticeable difference between the two options over the years?

Rod... First, I never run my cables at minimum length. I design my systems the way I want them, and cable them accordingly. I don't go out of my way to keep the speaker cables extra short either.

I would say my speaker lengths & IC's are of equal length in the 2-Channel room. In the Theater, the speaker cables are much longer due to necessity.

I picked up Rich today from Boston Airport, after dinner we headed to the basement. He knew I was changing out some things, and was curious how things sounded.

Admittedly, Richard has better hearing than myself. I played some Adele 21 off my server thru the MCD1100 to the C1000 then 2301's to Strads.

His Jaw was on the floor he said without knowing what I had done made a "profound improvement" we listened to half a dozen other tracks with him constantly asking, What, what was it you did?

I finally told him about my Platinum cable upgrade on the 2-Channel gear. He couldn't believe it was just cables. Staring at them in amazement, he turned to me and says "you know we have to completely re-cable the Theater now" this is just Blowing me Away.

I laughed, but the wheels are starting to turn... Maybe some Gold Eclipse cables may hit the Classifieds here.

I'll let him tell the whole story.

That is incredible...though I think at first it seems crazy that you can improve a system of your caliber...but then it makes sense that on that high of a resolving system changes would show up. Thanks for sharing Ivan!
