I heard a rumor that it might be based on a Clearaudio model that was never sold in the USA and had been retired. Just something I read so take that with a grain of salt.

It was an older direct drive SL (not the new reissue), I never had both concurrently running, but just remember having used and enjoyed the dd way more often.

The platter is POM because it's a better material than acrylic for platters.

It's probably a decent turntable, but you'd likely pay less for the Clearaudio equivalent.

Also, I'd expect it would be next to impossible to sell used if you ever decided to.
Yeah, probably wise on their part to have it built by CA. I'm not so sure it would be that hard to sell if it was priced reasonably, but I do see taking a bigger hit in price reduction than one of their higher end TTs.

If it were me, I would try like hell to stretch to the MT5 and forget the MT2. There are many happy MT5 owners and it looks like a million dollars .... gotta believe that the MT5 would sell much easier on the used market vs the MT2. Maybe keep an eye out or call audio classics for a used MT5 as opposed to a new MT2.
The MT10 is awesome no doubt, but a used MT5 may be reachable one day if the price is right. Hmm, you got me scheming

I’ve been happy with my MT2, but I’m a newb to vinyl, it’s my first TT. It meshed well with my system and sounds great. I mostly listen to hi-res Qobuz on a daily basis, but vinyl still sounds better even to my ear.

its a concept. the layout is identical. the rumor a few years ago was that it was going to be $2500. i'm sure they did some magical upgrades but i'd eat my hat if it's much different than a concept. looks really nice though, i considered it but the bank account said to stop.

The Performance DC doesn’t look all that much different from the Concept.

But it has a thicker heavier platter. And a heavier plinth. Both shared with the Mac

Even the tonearm looks like the one on the Performance.

Damn can’t attach photos even in Tapatalk.

Yea the performance DC looks similar, but the concept looks like a carbon copy to me, arm, platter and control knob. If it quacks like a duck something or other. I'm not dogging the quality, I'd take one if I had the scratch but it looks like badge engineering
