I have a question regarding MBL's gold/chrome knobs/feet. Do these get oxidized and become tarnished? Some MBL pictures I see online show gorgeous-looking shiny knobs/feet, but some show dirty tarnished knobs/feet.

Yes, Yes and Yes, these GOLD Plated knobs, feet DO GET tarnished. Its a sad thing but its something that cant be stopped, especially over here. Local dealer here will RE-PLATE to a thicker micron when this happen, albeit at a cost.

There are also CHROME colored knobs, feet, etc, ... which do have the same problem BUT they comes at a longer time than the GOLD ones.

If you love MBL, this is one thing that you have to bear up with. So, Tommy, Meridian? Black dont have this problem, even colored ones. Ha! Ha!

Jim,

I almost went this way. Mono block 9008 plus 6010D. A killer combo. In the end I went for Soulution but I still love the unashamed darkness of the MBL house sound. It might not be super transparent but it sounds fantastic.

It also depends on the speakers you match them up with. Pair them with MBL and I do not think they sound dark, though they still will not be as transparent as some other amps.

Righto!

"House" sound as ONE system is something to go for. Jim knows it ... 101 MKII+6010D+9008 (x2)+1622+1611F ... way to go!

Thank you Jerry. This is unfortunate. When new, these machines are works of art. And I believe they look even better in person.

I have seen MBL products at three show; Axpona NYC, California Audio Show and at RMAF. They are equisite. If I had only known about MBL before I went and purchased all my McIntosh, I would have bought MBL. There might still be room for a pair or two of MBL 101s-used- in my future though.

If I was able to move my set-up into one of the larger rooms, I would already own 101e Mk II's and probably a pair of 9008's. The 111f's work just fine in my current area.

Hi
Do someone know if it is possible to chenge the golden parts of the Mbl 9008 and the 6010d?
An opportunity had appeared to me. but the offered ones are black with Golden which i really found ugly.
I would prefer with Black or chrome parts for both.
The owner is willing to accept as a trade + money my 501s .
It is a real opportunity , cause it is not very easy to bring to Brazil such monsters .
Thanks for any help....
Jimmy
