Here's a video interview with Jim Thiel a bit before he passed away discussing the Thiel 3.7 design elements. I thught it was a nice interview explaining a lot of the design elements of the speaker: THIEL

I know I'm late to this discussion but I hadn't discovered AA when this thread was started.

I haven't heard the 3.7s but based upon how much I like my 2.4s, I imagine that I'd really like the top-of-the-line Thiels. I wonder if any AA members have mated the MA7000 to the 3.7 and can comment (or have commented) on their impressions of the pairing. (Note to self: Search AA for MA7000 and 3.7.)

Jorge...I have heard the 3.7s quite a few times. They are excellent and compared to the 2.4s which I also own they retain the same sonic signature but just offer more of everything. They are more resolving. Throw a bigger stage with more sharply delineated images on that stage. They go lower and have more visceral impact in the bass. They will play louder than the 2.4s given their higher sensitivity rating or will require less power to play at same SPLs, but they will still need an amplifier that delivers a lot of current which means an amplifier that needs an overengineered power supply because they stay below 4 ohms for a good portion of the frequency band. However, I suspect that if your MA7000 drives the 2.4s fine and does not result in any tonal anomalies, which means it is delivering enough current at all the difficult load points the 2.4s presents to a partnering amplifier, than it should sound just as fine with the 3.7s. Can you seek out an audition anywhere locally? If yes, it may be worth your while schlepping your MA7000 to the dealer to listen for yourself (yes I know the MA7000s are a heavy sucker ). Good luck.
