Thank´s, justubes.
I am thankful for every hint. There is not a good explanation about computer to DAC connections by ESOTERIC Company. So i still search the web for information and one thing i got is..... "The D05 can send out a word-clock synchronization signal to one source (in most systems a P05). When multiple D05s are daisy-chained by i-link for multi-channel SACD playback, then one of the DACs is set as master and the other two as well as the P05 as slaves. Obviously the D05 can also operate in the absence of word synchronization. The user may choose between a simplified or more elaborate jitter reduction circuit (labeled PLL1 and PLL2 respectively). PLL1 and PLL2 differ in more than one way but to keep things simple, PLL2 was designed to lock to clocking signals with very tight specifications (like Esoteric's own), the PLL1 to accommodate more erratic clocks. As Esoteric's technical manager put it to me: "The rule of thumb is that you should use PLL2 if the data is acceptably accurate to lock to. The Word indicator will flash green while locking. If it locks, it will turn the indicator light. If it can't lock, go to PLL1 and try again." .......was written in 6 moons audio about the D-03. This report and the word error i had after Anatta´s setting advice confused me again.

WOUT>48 result ok on 192khz data
WOUT>44.1 result ok on 44.1, 88.2, 176,4 khz data so this is technically the best setting?? --mac to D-02-- now i will compare this to Toslink/Pll2 if i personally hear any audible difference. better try with the STAX and the Logans....and this will take some time. anyhow i appreciate your advice guys!

How are you sending a BNC word clock signal to the mac? With asynchronous USB the DAC sends its clock to the PC/Mac through the USB connection to slave it; there's no need for separate word sync connection with USB.

It does not have auto select of frequencies, nor can you change from the remote. For computer audio, your audio files can vary, some will need 44.1khz setting, supposing file is 88.2khz encoded and end up walking to set the different clock output in order to have the music play.Rally depends on the sampling frequency encoded for the track. I find that for redbook files, 88khz or multiples of 44.1 hz sounds more natural than upsampled 96 pr 192 files. Last edited by justubes; 08-08-2016 at 03:54 AM. |

Using PureMusic/Amarra should or will select the frequencies for example with the optical connection.
With WordClock-out setting i have to switch manually. Therefore i bought the Esoteric remote in addition. Using that is a great advantage for experimental switching. I use the D-02 to control volume on my Gruensch poweramp too. 90% of my music database is redbook and in my opinion the recording quality is much more important than high sampling rates. But having the opportunity experimenting with high res files and a Esoteric Dac could be exiting.

I have the K-01x but the remote is pretty useless except when i play cd's which is are now. There isn.t much said on the new D-02X, which i was looking at. But keeping the K-01 for a transport and not having the ES-link to the K-01X would be too much a waste. Some japanese blogs says it come closer to the Grandioso's sonic character! |

Come on, the remote of the k-01 could do it all!
The remotes of K-01 and P-02/D-02 are the same. I had the k-01 for testing first after i decided that i don´t want to play and buy cd/sacd any more and will always us computer. In contrast to the k-01 the D-02 alone has no remote, P-02/D02 has one and thats the constellation they want to sell. I had to buy the remote as extra. At 27.000 euro german price list, absurd. The x modells would be my choice too, but selling the D-02 now will burn too much money for me. To my ears, the audible differences between K-01 and D-02 is not significant!!! On Paper it should be--- to be on save side was the reason i bought it then.

I mean swiching inputs from coax, CD, etc or any of the settings.
Mine certainly cannot, maybe mine is faulty, if anyone could chime in. It does nothing except for open/close, and controlling CD function. A real bummer! |

I checkt there is a new remote with new button design, but function should be the same as mine, the older one.
Maybe pairing with your Transport K-01x is not correct? So on mine the input button toggle through all the connection variations, optical, usb, Dual in... Press Setup button and then toggle with input button through all the filter ... clock settings. The remote has to be activated on settings display (RC/ENABLE) on your K-01X ------UPDATE--- does really not function with newer x unit´s ------- to bad!!!???
