Hey Fritz!

Honestly, I'm not sure what to do.

On the one hand, I know I can't really beat the 802D2 for what it does at the price point of 10K. So I'm not really too motivated to sell it since we last met.

At the same time, I kinda don't want to have two BW Diamond series speakers at home. I'd rather get rid of the D2 to make room for the D3 and get something else as a secondary system.

How's the 803D2 and the PM1 treating you?

Hi all from the less than sunny UK,

I had a quick listen to the 804d3s and 803d3s on the weekend. Firstly, the 803s are just lovely to behold and just looked like quality bits of kit- i kinda miss the yellow cones as an aesthetic choice but understand the technical reasons. Without being too controversial, i dont think there was much in it between them apart from the 803s having a bit more weight, a bit wider stage and a slightly better mid. The room was far from optimal and it was 5mins an each so hardly a fair test.

Im going to arrange a proper demo in their demo room vice the showroom floor in the new year. 2 questions: what am i actually meant to be listening for? Is it just a preference? Im not a proper audiophile, just trying to move that way! Second, i mostly use my set up for movies, although stream via tidal via a Bluesound node. I use a yamaha 3040 amp and the 5000 power amp that matched and currently use cm9's up front,cm 8' rear and couple of Rel S2 subs. In your opinions, would the kit suit either of those v expensive speakers? I know the power amp chucks out a good amount of power, but i know there is more to life than that, or should i upgrade my fairly recently purchased kit first?

I am sure you will get some more experienced advice but get the speakers now, upgrade the rest of the kit later. Bring a variety of well recorded music that "you" like. Try to cover the spectrum of strong bass, female vocal, male vocal, different type instruments, etc. You get the picture. I have two disks I put together where I listen to specific excerpts from each track. Make sure some has a lot going on to see if things get muddied up or become clearly defined. Try to run the gamut of your tastes. Lastly, enjoy the journey.

Just to clarify, do you have the MX5000 11 channel amp with the 3040 AVR or is it a 2 channel amp?

This is my first post, today I auditioned some 803d3's with naim amplification and processing and I'm a bit miserable as I really didn't enjoy it. After about 30 minutes I was bored and started subconsciously checking my phone, I expected to be engrossed and I just wasn't, in the end I started to get total audio fatigue. Left feeling quite miserable, surely it can't be the 803d3's and perhaps it was the amplification? I don't know. Music just didn't sound right, you could her every instrument individually but it sounded like they weren't timed correctly and were fighting each other and the vocals were drowned out by the music. Had been saving up for some diamonds for a while now so don't know what to do!
