Default Help Upgrading

Taking advice from others, I'll start a new thread...

I thought I'd seek out your opinions here. I'm working towards upgrading my gear, and I don't have a set time frame for when it'll happen, so I'm just doing research. I was hoping you all could help me decide on the path I should take.

I've made some very recent changes by moving the speakers into my movie room and selling off some of my stuff, and right now I do like what I hear, but I know it can get better. The system consists of Dynaudio C2s, a Rotel RMB 1075 5 channel amp at 125x5 (only two driven), an Integra DHC 40.1 pre/pro in direct mode, an APC HD15 power conditioner, and a logitech squeezebox classic using its digital out. I also have two GIK bass traps behind each C2. My cabling is a mix of Blue Jean, Audioquest, Tara Labs, and Shunyata.

I want to upgrade the amp, add a preamp, add a dac, add a new power conditioner, add some more bass absorption, and at least upgrade the speaker cables, and probably the other cables as well. My proposed gear list would be an MC452, a C2300, a PS Audio PWD or W4S Dac 2, a PS Audio P5, and I'd like to add the Kimber Select cabling to my system.

My question for you guys, is which piece should I buy first, and then from there where do I head? I really want to buy the MC452 first, but I'm not sure if that would get me the biggest gains; it sure would look cool though.

Finally, yes, I'm going to become a subscriber eventually, but I'm trying to delay because I don't want to be tempted too soon with new gear; I'm still recovering from the C2 purchase

Thanks for your input!

Alex... I had the same amp (Rotel RMB1075) as you before I switched to my MC402. The difference was unbelievable. Both my wife and I had our mouths hit the floor upon hearing the difference. I then added a C2300. I am very happy with both purchases.

I would follow the same path.

Consider Bryston amps. Well built, economical (as these things go) with a 20 year transferable warranty.

If you don't want to spend money right now, get off this site quick. Spending money and upgrading is all most people do around here, and it can be very contagious.

As far as holding off on becoming a subscriber to save money. Well.... you may want to do that because there is a 402 for sale right now on AA.

Suggest-New old stock MC352, PS Audio PWD and a power conditioner. Add your speakers and computer source and there is a complete system for just a little more than retail of the MC452 by itself.

Although subscribing now for $25 (a '24' of beers basically), is a minor investment in the grand scheme of things considering the advise you gain here will save thousands of dollars in potential trial and error disappointments down the road, no joke.

I've never understood the whole upgrade thing.
