Furthermore, I don't haphazardly promote and sell brands of gear. I first must own it, and believe in it's performance 100%.

There are very good reasons why JL Audio is the #1 best selling sub in the World. Last year, their sales were substantially over $100M

I've actually changed my mind.

I would either keep the SVS subs and get some form of external bass management system

or

Swap out the SVS for the Jl subs and use their bass management system.

In either case, a measurement of your room would be valuable to determine at what freq the problem lies. It's extremely difficult to sort out low bass problems with room treatments alone. Usually, some form of equalization is needed.

Edit; So a feature I didn't even know existed on my own sub. I just looked it up. The SVS has an adjustable PEQ with Q values and such so if you know what freq is causing the issue (bloating), you can manually adjust the subs PEQ to deal with it. Pretty cool, although I use Dirac in my system along with a Millennia NSEQ for analog sources.

I appreciate everyone's suggestions. I will start tomorrow by contacting SVS and see if they can help me.

How would you describe the differences between SVS and JL Audio subs? If I decide to keep the SVS subs, what stands and how much? Please send me a PM.

Thanks

Raising my SB13 up on stands helped tighten the bass up in my room. YMMV

Inexpensive ARI three leg racks that are about 6" in height. I tried them on a whim one day and they worked.

I recall that Ivan sells stands designed for JL subs, and might be able to provide something similar for your SVS. I believe he gets them from Sound Anchors who will make custom stands for any speakers.

just try anything you may have in your house to raise the subs .

if you like the results then buy stands
