A transistor radio will do that!

You could only begin to benefit from an SACD in a car if you are parked.
It works if your music has only a 20dB dynamic range.

Radio does, for the most part, stink, but it is far from dead. I think we discussed this elsewhere, but I believe the CD format will die before FM/AM radio does.

At home, for me, analog FM Stereo r.a.d.i.o. is well and alive! ...Thank you very much Elvis!

-----Thank you!

* Few people don't like analog FM Stereo r.a.d.i.o.
...And consider that it shouldn't be part of serious music listening.

Perhaps it is too vague, with uncertain definition, as to the sound and the artists?

Me, I'm a r.a.d.i.o. LOVER. ...I learned a lot from it, musically.
And I also learned where to tune to the right stations, with the right people.

Then when I'm ready, SACD baby! ...Or the best CD quality recordings.

...The Higher Learnings & the Higher Rewards; MUSICALLY.

---Did you know that Tuners are the most fun to play with components?

Open them and tune them to sound their best! It is the most fun and rewarding experience in electronic audio.
...Turntables are fun too.

Yeah but they have always been the best barometer of the future.

... There was a time when AM music was the form of radio the masses listened to. FM then became the norm. Think about it. Who listens to AM radio now? AM radio stations have all but disappeared.

I think FM radio is slowly but surely being replaced by internet radio. Many FM stations are now available through the internet. In the end it will boil down to a question of economics.

Maybe I'm being influenced by the sparsity of FM radio stations in my area. I find the FM stations, dull, repetitive, and governed by rampant commercialism. I don't even listen to th radio in my car. I have a Classic iPod connected to the sound system in my car. The radio simply never used thank you very much. I sold my MR85, regrettably I might add, because FM radio simply was just too, hmmmm... Teeth gnashing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not referring to the sound quality. Just the lack of imagination or plain laziness on part of the radio stations, and their very limited span of music selection.

So, FM radio as a format may not yet be dead, but the grave is certainly being dug. IMO.

---The only FM r.a.d.i.o. stations that I tune in are: Classical, Jazz, & Blues. ...That is it!
Oh, and World & Alternative/NewAge stations.
