All cables change the sound. Buy them used and experiment. Unfortunately the more expensive ones sound better. I had cardas, then Tara 0.8, Then KS Elation. Each time a pretty big difference.

Just touching base here. My Spectral and MIT gear is burning in very nicely. Magico is HIGHLY dependant on the gear you choose. Be VERY careful when you audition any Magico products. They may very well not sound the same at home as they do in the showroom. Trust me, after 2 complete system changes I have finally found the magic of Magico..

How much in retail are the MIT Oracle HD90 Rev1 speaker cables and MIT HD50 ICs you have been using ?

Trying to figure out the total budget needed.

Penthouse,

I am building my second system. I have a pair of Q1s with a Constellation Centaur.

While I have been using my Oracle HD90 Rev1 speaker cables on the system, yesterday, I dusted the spider webs off the my Matrix HD IC and man, what a difference. Pretty awesome, so these posts are pretty timely.

Since I got the speaker cables upgraded to Rev 1, I have been out of the MIT game as on my first system I have been running a different set of cables. Now that I hear the magic of MIT with the the Q1s and Centaur, just curious what ICs you are looking at, if you know the difference from between the "old" Matrix HD and the "new" Matrix HD 50?

Thanks

I'm considering the MA-X. IC's I'd have to lose the 50's to afford the new ones. I really don't know if they are worth the difference. I'm quite happy with the 50's. I'm LOVING the Spectral gear. That's the only reason I bought all these MIT cables. It's required by Spectral for a "closed" system.

MUCH better dynamics etc. I was using Shunyata Zitron Anaconda speaker cables with fairly good results. I just replaces the shunyata's with MIT Oracle HD90 rev1's. These cables require a 2 week break-in. Right out of the box they sound MUCH better. I can't wiat for the break-in. All these little mods really make a world of difference.
Glad to see you have found an amp that you like for the Q5. I had a very hard time finding an amp for my Thiel CS5's but they sang with Krells when Mr. D'A was there. I was surprised to hear the new Wilson speaker (Alexia) had such a low impedence. I like speakers that are easy to drive. Makes cables and amps less critical. The 601 is a great amp for most speakers.

I bought the ARC Ref 210 to power the V3, partially based on a dealer recommendation. At first it sounded bright. I replaced the 6550 tubes (16 of them!) in the ARCs, and the sound came to life. Now I get what the Magico sound is all about. I think for the Magico you need plenty of power and current, with neutral sounding electronics. If the amps err on the side of brightness, you are in trouble. Cables can compensate for this somewhat, but the essential character of the electronics will still be there.

I am trying these cables and also HD120 speaker cables,

But I will stick with Transparent. I just like it more.

My IC are Transparent Ultra which are well below the level of equipments, but
Transparent get very expensive in the higher level, so I am looking for alternative.
What in mind are
1. Kimber Select 1126, 1136
2. Valhalla2
3. MIT Oracle
4. Transparent Ref XL or up to OPUS .
By the way Speaker cables are Transparent Ref MM.
