I was wondering the same thing...

When I asked Dennis he said...The VR tubes stabilize the B+ voltages as do the zener diodes.
The VR tubes seem to have a darker, lower noise floor compared to the zener's. Also keep in mind...The VR tubes are cool as heck to look at!!! |

The output tubes will probably be KT-88's

Keep in mind that the VR tubes are voltage regulating, but also current limited. If I recall correctly, those 0A3 tubes are 75V, meaning 3 in series will typically regulate at 225V. However, 0A3 tubes are only able to handle about 40 mA of current singly or in series, so it's usage is limited to lower current applications.

I think this is the PSE Tony (Staitwire) posted earlier. I sure love the black on black.

Hey BearCity, you are correct, that is the one I posted pictures of.
Black on Black is nice. The powder coat guy told me to use microfiber cloth to wipe off dust. |

Thanks for the tip about the microfiber cloth. I sure am enjoying my PSE amp and LP-27a. Dennis did a great job with these. Too bad my Harley Black PSE doesn't match aesthetically with my copper LP-27a. But man do they sound great together.
