Default Tube in 801 Nautilus in or out?

There is a cover cap with a screw holding it in place, in the port, in the back of the 801 Nautilus cabinet.
It is there for shipping purposes.
Inside is a metal tube.
Should that tube be removed or left in place, when putting the speakers in service ?
There is a rubber grommet with a metal cap to replace the parts that are removed.

Is it a tube or a long screw? If the latter, loosen until it's loose then retighten until you feel resistance. Then a half turn to seat.

there is a screw to hold the cover plate in place when shipping and the tube is inside the cabinet. It covers the end of the mid range driver. I think it is protection while shipping but I'm not sure. The screw for the cover screws into the end of the driver. The tube is inside.
When you replace the protection cover, you put a rubber grommet with a metal cap, in place but there is no screw.

I can't remember but I know it's covered in the manual. See of you can find it online.

I don't remember removing any parts except the transit screw and then replace with the supplied cover.
