Default C2300, MCD500, remote?

Hi all. I have a C2300 and the original remote, HR073, quit on me. I replaced the HR073 with a McIntosh remote that doesn't have an ID number on it. But it works a bit.
I also have a MCD500. It came with the same HR073 remote.
Neither the HR073 or the other McIntosh remote will fast forward a track on CD mode.
The HR073 was able to start and stop a CD and able to skip a track forward or back. But it would not fast forward through a track.
The replacement McIntosh remote won't skip a track, fast forward or reverse, nor will it start a CD. But it will power on/off, volume, switch modes (CD, phono MC, phono MM, tuner, etc.), change settings (bass, treble, etc.).
Is the MCD500 able to fast forward/reverse through a CD?
Is there a good remote for this system?
Thank you for reply's.

The MCD 500 will fast-forward and rewind. It doesn’t work very well with the included remote though. I switched it out to a Harmony home programmable remote and have been very happy with the way I can control the whole system.

Don.......Do you have a stereo mini jack cable connected between the C2300 CD Data Port and the Data In port on the MCD500?

You might want to consider a Harmony 650 universal remote. I think it will be able to do anything you ask of it.

I have used a Harmony 650 universal remote with a C2300 and MCD500. It works great and for $50 it is easily replaceable if it gets broken with too many drops. I use them on 3 separate systems and keep my original remotes in the drawer.

Hi Dan... yes, I am using a stereo mini jack cable connected between the C2300 CD Data Port and... oops!... 'Power Control Out'.
I have moved the mini jack cable from 'Power Control Out' to 'Data In' on the back of the MCD500.
Ah ha! Ok, now I can start a CD with the remote. I can pause it. I can skip a track forward and backward. I can't seem to be able to fast forward or fast reverse.
But this is a big help. Thank you.
Someone must have played a trick on me?

I will look for a Harmony... 650.
Thank you.
I wonder why this McIntosh remote won't fast forward or reverse?

I have the McIntosh HR073 remote that came with both the C2300 and the MCD500.
It will start a CD, stop a CD, skip to the next track forward or reverse, pause, mute, but it won't fast forward or fast reverse through a track.
It's the same as the other McIntosh remote that has no model number printed on it.
The volume (up or down) doesn't function on the HR073.
That is why I have the other McIntosh remote.
I see in the MCD500 manual that the remote is supposed to be able to fast forward and fast reverse through a track.
The HR073 never was able to fast forward through a track.

The c2300's remote control is not the coolest one.
