Problem with JRiver

I was getting frustrated with Roon, so I downloaded JRiver to my laptop to try and play my hi-rez files. I got them to play through my DAC but my laptop is controlling the volume. This didn't happen before when I used JRiver. Any ideas guys? Thanks, Jack

Go to Tools>Options>Audio>Volume and choose the desired option.

I'm not sure which one is desired, so I guess I'll use the process of elimination and see what works.

I assume you want the 'disabled volume' option. But ONLY if you have control down the line.

Wise but keep the external gain control down. Hopefully, you have one.

I choose the disabled volume option. By control down the line are you talking a volume control on my preamp, which I have?

Yes, control meant 'volume control'. A PreAmp is perfect.

Looks like everything is working great, thanks. If I can hit you with another quicky, what's the best way to transfer FLAC files from one laptop to another? I had all my Hi-rez music backed up on an external hard drive, but when I loaded it into the JRiver library it wouldn't play. It kept saying that there was no file by that name, even though it showed it was in the library.

Here is what I would do.

1) create MUSIC directory on your external HD.

2) Cut and paste from Source PC to MUSIC directory on external HD

3) create MUSIC directory on new PC hard drive

4) Connect external HD to new PC

5) Cut and paste from External HD to MUSIC directory on new PC

I haven't used JRiver in almost a year since moving to ROON so I am too rusty to provide directions from memory on pointing JRiver to your new MUSIC directory.

I'll try that when my company leaves. I was messing with Roon for about a week, off and on, without much luck. I'll try again when I get JRiver working.
