Default Almost Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Adding A Subwoofer

Found this article while looking up best practices for adding subs. I have two JL Audio F212v2's coming from Ivan and that's a hell of a lot of bass to add, so I wanted to read up on tips.

It's an interesting article. It comes of as brash and a bit arrogant, but there's some interesting info in there I thought we could all benefit from.

Barry Ober has forgotten more about subwoofers than I will ever know. I think it is a very useful article.

Good article, and for me, reinforces why I don't use a subwoofer(s) in my 2-channel music system.

Quite a bit of the info is wrong according to other "experts" and IME.

Here is what I know: I like my system a lot without the sub. I like it better with the sub. I just ordered a second sub so I will have stereo subs. That article made my head hurt, so I listened to music with my horribly inaccurate and poorly installed sub, with no doubt shitty phase tesponse and timing anomolies, and guess what? It sounded great and I feel all better now. Cant wait to pick up my second sub at Magnolia tomorrow.

Gedlee and Audiokinesis are similar, there are others with different takes.

Venere's post above.

Anyone here an authority on running the JL Audio CR-1 Crossover with dual subs (Fathom 212v2 for example)? I'd have to save up some big cash, but it sounds pretty compelling.
