I understand the simple analogy perfectly - When one buys a premium product, they expect it to work perfectly. Apparently, that is not a universal truth. I am of the same opinion as Cajun on that.

I also agree with 1Kw, from the perspective that yes, it should bring you joy, and if it does not work to your satisfaction, you should return it. That’s exactly what I am going to do if this is not resolved.

Talk to Ivan , he will get you into some esoteric digital which everyone seems to love who has one. I myself may go in that direction at some point.

With all due respect, Ivan may not be the first one to speak with. Mac would. If you are this dissatisfied and bought the piece from a reputable dealer I am sure Mac will refund your money. I am playing my new 1100 right now through USB JRivers 23 and it is playing perfectly much better than through my MCD1100 JRivers 18. In regards to highend audio I have observed over the years that the more expensive large and complicated a piece is the more likely it is to malfunction. If you want this kind of perfection buy an Oppo or a Sony or a Samsung and you will obtain it.

Default McIntosh d1100 USB

Try playing with the resync setting in ROON...IF the McIntosh ASIO driver provides that option.

I’ve done that. It has no positive effect on the problems.

I’ve been following this thread as I recently picked up a D1100 and listen to a lot of live shows and gapless playback without losing sync is very important. Right now I’m listening to the the Dead and Co. show from New Orleans discussed earlier and it is being played back in HD-flac over usb from my MacBook with JRiver 23. So far no issues with dropping the signal lock with USB.

I don’t have any of the files that caused issues in my collection, but I’ll see if I can remedy that and report back on my testing.

Just downloaded the MQA unfolding upgrade for the Aurender, holy cow does the D1100 sound fantastic. Streaming the MQA version of Fleetwood Mac , Landslide has never sounded this good.

Yes, it is fine with gapless albums. It is fine for that, other than that you will lose the first fraction of the first track only. If you are using JRiver with certain specific settings, you will not have that issue either, but that seems to be the exception, not the norm

I believe the reason we don’t have issues with gapless albums is because the end of one track does not “flat line”, it just rolls right into the next track

Despite not owning a D1000, I have been following this thread with interest.

As there was some suggestion that all McIntosh DAC's may behave in this manner I listened to both Beatles songs last night (do not have "Highway to Hell"). There was NO cut off of the 1-2-3-4 or initial cords using both USB or Toslink inputs. Source was an Apple laptop with Amarra, DAC was the internal of the C 2500.
