I’m not going to debate about breaking in as I truly believe in it. This is not the thread for it but I do respect your opinion. Cheers

I have ordered the Granite Audio phono break in cd from musicdirect.
Tks again Weirdcuba.

600hrs is the time it takes us to get used to bad sound

(no relation to this particular component)

By the way I’m using clearaudio innovation compact and universal arm, we have similar setup. Wish I had the Lyra cart.

Thank you Weirdcuba.

Just wondering, is the CD output perhaps a little too high for the phono pre?
CD outputs normally are in the 2-6V, whereas the output of the turntable may be
in the mili volts (less than 5 mV), depending if it's a MC or a MM cart.
What is the max input voltage that the ARC can take? Just trying to be safe.

As I recall, they have different frequencies on each track and advise as to which to choose.

Don’t sweat it. Enjoy your time with it as it breaks in.....it will be subtle but noticeable IME.

If you go through Granite Audio website there are 2 kinds of burn cd. Model CD-101 and Model CD-101.1, the first one is for MM and high output MC, the second one is for low output MC which output 0.7mv.
I’m also curious of the max input the PH9 can take.

Thanks,,
Finally done just over 500hrs, tks to the granite audio breaking cd works like a charm. Overall I’m very impressed. Played my reference LP Miles Davis, Kind of Blue, flamenco sketches track it just had better dynamics, wider soundstage and imaging was immersive. My turntable sounded more transparent and natural. Now I’m actually sitting on the front table in a jazz club as I imagined. It’s musical and very live sound. Sorry guys I’m not really good at expressing what I hear but this is what I can tell you for now. Avoid matching the PH9 with a really low output voltage cartridge. Minimum of 0.5mv output voltage and higher would be perfect. If you want to go lower then I would suggest the ARC ref phono 3 with adjustable gain.

Equipment use:-
Turntable: Clearaudio Innovation compact
Tone arm: Clearaudio Universal 12”
Cartridge: Clearaudio Talismann V2 Gold

You should consider changing the cartridge to a Concerto v2. The upgrade to the “finger head” series is significant. I got my daVinci v2 from Ivan.

What a coincidence, I just ordered the Da Vinci V2. Will be arriving sometime next week. Could you please tell me how does it sound and how long does it take to break in.
Off topic, since we have the same power distributor the Denali 6000t. What do you think if I put in a venom defender directly into one of the 6000t socket? I have 1 defender not use laying around so was thinking of using it.
