Default Recommendation, F113, F212 v2

I have managed to integrate my F112 V1 very well with my YG Kipod 2’s The YG’s roll off at 65Hz. The sub’s Frequency is set to +-65/66Hz with LP filter at 12db in-line with the YG’s, which is a sealed enclosure. The integration is wonderful and the bass quality is great.

I am wondering if I will get even better bass if I upgrade to the F113 V2 or even the f212 v2. This is a single sub room, dual subs does not work in my room.

THE sub fires down the length of a 30 feet room, which is why I am getting such excellent bass, see attached photos. The current position of the sub is the sweet spot, so any other sub will have to be positioned there.

The only thing that worries me about the F212 is that it will almost be as tall as the YG’s and that reflections from the YG’s might impact Imaging.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Man, the only thing I would add is a railing on that drop off! Seriously, you must not drink!

Nice room though. It looks very comfortable.

Doug.......The one thing you can do that will improve imaging is add a second F112 to the right side. If you're looking to gain performance, this addition will deliver on your investment. Jime Smith recommends two subwoofers over one in his book Get Better Sound. Most dual sub users report hearing an improvement in imaging. If the itch to spend a little audio money hits again, look for another Fathom f112.

Thanks for the advice Dan. The only way I can do that is to place the sub on the right in the lower lounge next to the chest. This means it will have to be placed on a dedicated stand about 17cm in height to bring it to upper floor level. I am nervous that it might not work given the expense and effort. What do you think?

P.S. I tried the sub on the inside of both speakers. It does not sound great in those positions. It has to be on the outside, firing across the room

I designed a base for the F112 that is 3 inches high including spikes. It is sitting on 3 m8 spikes.

I am totally blown away by the improvement; bass is tighter and more tuneful and a lot less gain at very low frequencies, with more emphasis on the range +- between 50 and 65Hz. I had to turn the volume up a bit, and running ARO again, which made a massive difference.

Vocals are more realistic with performers appearing lifelike. Soundstage is deeper and more 3 dimensional, and stage height is also improved. I can also hear subtle details more clearly.

I do not feel the need to get a second sub after this tweak. Turned out to be very cost effective with all materials from my local hardware store.

How about F113v2? It is not that much taller, but it will be a step up and perhaps it
will be a very similar integration to what you have.

I have that on my wish list as a future upgrade. I am just a little worried that the F113 v2 wont be as fast as the f112 at the crossover point of 65Hz.
