Dan...I don't think I knew of your brother's passing. I am sorry to hear this. My mom is still hanging on, things could go either way but we continue to hope for the best.

I had one back in the day. Sold it went to a L112 which had better highs, then sold that and went to a Klipsch La Scalla, sold it and went to a Thiel CS 1.2, then sold that and went to a Thiel CS 2, then sold that and went to a Thiel CS 2.2 then slid into a hault with a Thiel CS3.7 running them on a McIntosh MC206

I got mine when a friend owed me some cash back in the late seventies.......I used them 24-hrs a day for twenty years....I still own them and they reside in a basement AV set-up

...Just stumbled upon this great JBL thread! My nephew gave me a pair of L100 classics he had been using for several years. I finally got around to checking them out and cleaning them up. The wood veneer was looking faded & dried out so I hit them with some Olde English furniture polish and it really brought the cabinets back to life.
They are a little beat up but still sound very good despite a ripped midrange cone and dented tweeter dust cap. I may build some grill covers for them. If I decide not to sell them I may put together a vintage system around these! I currently have a friend's NAD Int amp and Technics SL-10 linear tracking turntable hooked up to them and this system sounds amazing!

Don't sell them!.......the drivers are readily available on Ebay. Everything down to grill frames and reproduction foam inserts. The 123A woofers are an accordian type that never need re-foaming. They are not the most accurate speaker but sound amazing, especially with ROCK music.

regards,

Tom

Just listened to these spkrs again last night. Even Gordon Lightfoot sounded amazing on these!
I think I'll be holding onto these and continue to fix them up!
