If the XLF and Maggies are small speakers, what do you consider to be medium or large?

Even though I swim in a different lake than most people here, there is u sub $1k pair of speakers that especially considering the price can compete with the 'real good' little speakers.
I would almost date you to audition them and if you don't want to be seen auditioning sub $1k speakers, go incognito.

The speakers I am talking about are of course my beloved Goldenear Aon 3's!
Of the bat I will admit that they are not the most clean and detailed, but they will compete with the best for musicality and fun!
For their size they have an amazing bass and if your room isn't too big you don't really need a sub.
Their soundstage is huge! The music really hugs you.

In my setup they kicked the B&W 805S off their stands!

Oh, don't laugh until you hear them... ;-)

Yes Jesse is correct. These speakers are AMAZING! But bring a healthy checkbook.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I am looking for a system to put in our condo in Minneapolis. It is a historic building with concrete floors & ceilings, and brick walls. The living room, dining room, kitchen, is about 26' by 30' with 11' ceilings and I will be putting the TV (and speakers) kind of in one of the corners. I would like the system to work with the TV and as a stand-alone stereo; do you think I am asking too much. Any thoughts?

in 1995, I walked into Cambridge Soundworks and listened to Billy Joel's "Lullaby"

[ame="http://youtu.be/gav66byYJMw"]Billy Joel - Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) (Audio) - YouTube[/ame]

on a the Cambridge Soundworks, "Microworks"

Which was just about the best sound I had heard at the time.
