Thanks for the rear view, Dan. Just noticed the 20 amp socket.

Higgens.......That 20 amp IEC power socket is overkill. Audio Research shows a 900 watt maximum current draw for this amplifier. At 120 volts that is only 7.5 amps. They may be trying to encourage owners to remain with the stock power cord. Who knows.

Or perhaps it's there to help justify the lofty price tag?

Huh, you're right. I guess I was thinking of the GSPre...I thought the GS150 was about 18k. 25k is too much for my tastes. I'll stick with my Ref75 with KT-150's. BTW, most of ARC gear uses 20A cords. The Ref5 and Ref75 do...

This perception was to be later born out, with the bias control switch growing ever stickier and less responsive even with very light use, only to fail completely shortly after. I did find one other reference to this exact same scenario on another forum, however in the interest of balance, many other user/owners of the GS series appear not to mention this phenomenon, therefore one may conclude that there were at least, two, switches that made it past ARC quality control, rather than a widespread problem indicative of a faulty batch. However, my opinion of the overall quality of the stepped switch on this particular control remains. All that said, I found the GS150 to be a consummate performer audibly, and most pleasing to the eye visually.
Totally agreed, and I wrote about this too somewhere here long time ago, about poor mechanical feel of front rotating switches. I told my dealer but they didn't care. They said it was normal.

Probably more about a sturdier connection and greater surface area on the blades than amperage.
