This is what I do at my store and what my customers do. Keep the gear in one location, and run appropriate speaker wire to speakers.

If the gear is in the middle of the system, speaker wire tends to be short anyway.

Jonathan told me that 1 meter min on IC's is best? I have 1/2 meter Shindo IC between pre and power - I think it sounds great. Should I be using a meter?

I concur with Matt. I've tried 2 and 3 meter Ic and now use a 1m with 4m speaker cables. I like the sound better. Even if it's subjective.

Matt would need to tell you for sure, but my understanding from him regarding the Shindo pre amps is:

The Monbrison and Aurieges have a relatively high impedance output and need a shorter IC run than the pre amps with output transformers do. (Masseto up) So on the former, the shorter the IC the better. 1/2 meter would be better than a meter.

1/2M is designed for the output of a step up transformer and the input to the phono stage.

A 1M or 1.5M is best between preamp and amp (1.5M works great for mono amps, sitting below preamp on a good stand, for example).

Thanks - would a 1/2 meter work well between an arome and a preamp?

You need to use 1/2M between arome rca outputs and preamp input for best results.

The Input of Arome is XLR terminated. You need to use a Shindo or A23 RCA->XLR cable for the input side, from your CD player, if your digital source has RCA outputs.

... or, as I did, ask the admirable Stewart to make up a SoundSilver pair:

I'd be curious if the Soundsilver's use connectors that ideally work with the "low mass" connectors on the Shindo. That, as I understand, is an important thing to consider when tying in cables with Shindo. So at the very least it would be interesting to try out at this price point, if they did. It also looks like he only sells via Audiogon.

...Of course, connectors are a large part of it - and materials - and it's also the specific way Shindo wires each side of the ground and shield to maximize overall sonics and low noise floor.

Stuart uses Switchcraft RCA and XLR connectors. He does sell on Audiogon, but I emailed him and he was happy to make up custom orders for me. If you PM me I can give you his email address.
