Default Florida Algae Blooms Send People to Hospital, Kill Marine Wildlife

Our planet is getting sicker and sicker... Red Tide in Florida's west coast. What do they expect with all the agricultural pesticide and fertilizer runoff into the Gulf??? What a shame... If this continues year after year and seems to be getting worse, perhaps it is time to stop saying this a "natural" occurrence? Especially that they know damn well what causes it. Hurts the ecology, the economy, hurts the real estate. Stop lying and take action!

Here is the real source of the ecological disaster.

According to this article, the phenomenon of red tides have been documented along Florida's Gulf coast since the 1840s...

Correct, it is not a new phenomenon. The agricultural runoff however feeds the toxic algae. Phosphorous and nitrogen is known to cause algae blooms. When we observe them lasting far longer than days or weeks and into many months, that's not natural. That's not to mention the green toxic slime that is not part of the natural process. The video on Lake Okeechobee I posted above explains it rather well.

There are no mysteries or conspiracy theories here.

Lt. Col. Jennifer Reynolds, a deputy district engineer with the Army Corps, gave a 40-minute presentation to frustrated residents of Cape Coral, Florida, explaining why they had to release nutrient-laden water from Lake Okeechobee when the level of the lake approaches 15 feet above sea level, because a major rain event could lead to catastrophic flooding around the lake and the loss of lives and property.

The release of nutrient-laden water from Lake Okeechobee, combined with high temperatures have triggered this toxic algae bloom unlike anything southwest Florida has ever seen. https://www.accuweather.com/en/weath...coast/70005653

Here is the explanation why they dumped the nutrient laden/toxic water into the Gulf. https://www.news-press.com/story/new...ral/862741002/

sad, truly sad. Reminds me of Onondaga Lake just north of Syracuse, once known as the dirtiest lake in America https://www.syracuse.com/news/index...._expected.html

Hopefully common sense will prevail for the Florida situation before it's too late.
