Default Wilson Theater

I guess I might as well start a new thread on the "Wilson Theater"

While it was my plan to go with an all Wilson theater when the room was first built up over a year ago, I ultimately decided not to go all the way to the Maxx 3 and Polaris thinking it may have been an overkill. Of course Sasha was the next logical choice since I already owned a pair before but... I knew it was just a matter of time before Wilson introduced a new and updated center to match the Sasha which is very important to me. Much more so than the surrounds.

Now that Wilson had introduced the awesome Mezzo for Sasha and Sophia, I was counting the days to do the switch! Not that I didn't enjoy the all Sonus Faber speakers I had in there, quite the contrary. Wilson's latest products have really captured my attention and they just do it for me on so many different levels. What can I say? I am a big Wilson fan!

With my dealer's generous offer, the switch to all Wilson was all that much less painful $$$ wise.

So today marked the beginning of the transition. The empty theater room is once again filled with music! The loaner pair of Sasha's in Black Kirsch is making some seriously good music in my room. I am very, very impressed with the little effort I have put into the Sasha placement that they snapped into focus right from the get go and sound well balanced in the room.

The difference was instantly noticed and appreciated. The Wilsons are so good at imaging and presenting the listener with sharply focused images that are ever so real and palpable... Listening to a few Mapleshade Records CDs, I was blown away... The walls simply MELTED away. Now, I have owned a pair of Sashas before, I have heard them many, many times elsewhere, but in my theater room, it is the best "wall melting" trick I have heard to date. The Sashas have a well treated room to strut their imaging stuff.

The images are placed well above the speaker vertically and Sashas throws the images that were recorded sharp left or sharp right towering above themselves and punching through the side walls!

Of course I was very curious to hear what the synergy would be like with Bryston... Tonal balance caught me by surprise, Sasha took on to the room and the Bryston 14B amp with a rather mellow and laid back attitude that I would have never guessed I was listening to a Bryston amp. I was expecting a bit more forwardness and enthusiasm from this pairing. I like it better than I thought I would but time will tell. At the very least, I am not in a big hurry to switch the amps out. Bass is of course under full control, no issues in this room.

The Black Kirsch is very nice color but I am glad I went with a different color. Under my halogen lighting up in the acoustic soffits, the speakers give off a purplish tint. I am not into purple.

Ok, so here is a brief intro to my developing Wilson Theater with the loaner pair of Sashas.

Awesome, Serge...those Wilsons look mighty nice in there! It's interesting to hear your comments about the Bryston pairing...undoubtedly, a sign of the superb room that you've built.

Serge - very nice! The Sasha is the Missus' favorite speaker, and some day I will have to indulge her. Look forward to your updates!

Robert, they fit like a glove with room to spare for positioning. I was a bit concerned since they are almost 2 feet deep... Nope, not a problem, I even have the fatty bass traps behind them. Yes, the gear says, "I will do what I always like to do" and the room replies, "nope, you will sing the way I want you to".

Generally not a good idea to say "NO" to the Missus'.

Sasha's are simply irresistible. I tried to break off my romance with them by cheating with two Sophia gals but Sasha is the love of my life in the audio world...

Funny, I'm partial to a gal named Aida.

Enjoy Serge!
