I received my Venom 3s cord today. On it, there's a tag that says, "Caution. The drain wire in this cord is not terminated to any of the terminals in the connector." What does that mean? I never saw that one before.

I already answered this in Welcome to Caelin thread.

Do you guys think it's OK to plug in a Mac Mini, with a Shunyata Cord, to a Shunyata Hydra-Triton with the other audio equipment?

Looking for a source to feed my new Ayre QB-9 DSD DAC. Thinking about a MacBook Air, appealed by the 12 hour battery (thus not needing to plug in to anything while playing music).

Another option: the Mac Mini, but worried about it generating noise other components might pick up.

I think he was mentioning if the mac mini shares the same electrical line as other components.

I'm also interesting to see if that introduces pollution in the system. Intuitively, I'd say yes as the PSU of the mac mini is poorly made and it's not even well grounded.

True, I meant if I plugged the Mac Mini into the same Shunyata Triton as the other components. Kind of nervous about that. At least the MacBook Air wouldn't have that issue - long battery time and it wouldn't even have to share anything in the electrical system, period. But the MacBook Air doesn't have as much flash memory as the Mac Mini could support, IIRC.

Use an Alpha Digital on the Mac instead of a Venom. The Alpha is designed to remove noise on the AC line that digital components create.

I have a Mac Mini plugged together with Ayre electronics including a QB9 and don't notice any noise.

I'm using Furutech but I'm sure will be fine with Shunyata.

If I have followed Caelin's posts here correctly, the newly introduced Hydra DPC-6 was designed to fully isolate (firewall) the type of noise introduced by computers, disk arrays, and the like. The Alpha digital being more targeted to the noise introduced by digital components such as DACs and CD players.

Add computers to the mix for the Alpha Digital. CD players and DACs are hybrids, part analog and part digital. The Alpha Digital may or may not perform best on those pieces. I removed the Alpha Digital from my DAC, went back to a Cobra, and put the Alpha Digital on my Oppo Blue Ray player.

The Alpha Digital on my file player (Linux based computer) made a tremendous difference. It was a WTF! moment.
