Serge...I've done all MC2301s & C1000C with terrific results. I've thought about opening up the MCD1100, but haven't taken it that far. Let us know how you go.

The fuses on my MC252 and C46 are easily accessibles so I will give a try first on these. To crack open the MCD301 and change 4 fuses is more troublesome so I will just do like you did for the first try.

Sorry to say, but I think these high $ fuses are snake oil and a waste of money. If you put a gold plated fuse into your CD player, it should really go into a gold plated fuseholder and be attached it via a gold plated interconnect to a gold plated power outlet connected by some special gold plated house-wiring to a gold plated fusebox... but then, it would still only be connected via a cadmium plated master fuse to several kilometres of steel cable slung between a bunch of wooden poles.

In other words, it'll make about as much difference to your CD player as a gold plated gearstick knob will make to the top speed of your car. I'm only interested in modifications that deliver quantifiable results -- so until someone manages to convince me that their fuses contain some magic Juju that actually does make anything sound better (and preferably someone who isn't making $54 every time one of them blows!) it will remain on the list of things I will pass on.

I think it depends more so on what that electrical current is used for, how that energy is converted & how much of that energy remains closest to its original state. Different tweaks for different components...IMO amplifiers make perfect candidates for fuse upgrades whereas CD players are better candidates for drawer mats. Much like a spike is to a loudspeaker, a good fuse will focus the current being drawn in. I am sitting here with tin foil wrapped around my head & my dog is playing his trumpet....believe it or not...

Opinions are one thing, listening is another. Would you select your cables based on opinion?

Have you done a listening comparison of fuses?

Myles, I see you have a vested interest in this - http://www.positive-feedback.com/Iss...ifi_tuning.htm which is cool. Can't hurt to be objective. Opinions are like a*** h****, everyone's got one. And you're free to disagree with mine.

While I respect your opinion and share your skepticism, I thought these were worth a try since nobody but my ears will convince me. For the record I haven't A/B tested them yet but plan to do so soon. For the amount I have invested in my system, I don't have a problem spending these amounts every once in a while on tweaks that could potentially have a positive impact.

David.......There is a difference between an opinion and actual experience. Opinion is a belief stronger than an impression and less strong than positive knowledge. Experience is practical knowledge derived from direct observation or participation in a particular activity. There is a huge difference between the two. While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, nothing substitutes real experience.

I am a skeptic by nature myself, but I have had many of my opinions altered once I had actual experience with a given item. A classic example of this is my experience with stock power cords versus premium shielded power cords. Like you, I asked how can the final two meters of wire between the wall receptacle and a component alter the impact of miles of power cable ahead of it? It wasn't until I had actual experience auditioning premium power cords that my misguided opinion was altered. The experience was worth far more than the opinion. The same was true for premium grade fuses. My mind said this is ridiculous, but my ears said it was a worthy improvement to my sound system's performance. Again, experience trumped opinion.

I am not trying to say there isn't plenty of snake oil products being push on unsuspecting and gullible enthusiasts. We know there are plenty of bogus claims associated with many products. None the less, I will lay my skepticism aside when faced with positive experience that demonstrates my opinion was flawed. My suggestion would be to try a pair of Hi-Fi Tuning Supreme fuses in your amplifiers, then offer an opinion based on experience. The cost is far more reasonable than even a mid level pair of interconnects, and if for some reason you are still unconvinced, sell the fuses right here on AA. I was prepared to do the same thing, but guess what? Yep, I kept my Hi-Fi Tuning Supreme fuses, and I ordered more for the living room system. To my ears, the improvement in my sound systems performance was worth the small investment.
