IIRC, the XD series don't include the WBT binding posts (?)

With the concomitant increase in price. Which, given the success of the 40th Anniversary series, customers are willing to pay.

Thinking of a P3ESR pair to setup another system in a different room. I would use my tube PrimaLuna Dialogue HP integrated with them.

Serge, thanks for sharing this video, I’m also a Harbeth fan

I have a pair of 30.1 35th in the 2nd system, sitting distance 7’, very good match with my PrimaLuna Dialogue Two (now in the 3rd system with my older SF Cremonas).

The P3ESR are rated 83.5dB vs 85dB for the 30.1s but then your PL HP is 2x70W in UL vs my D2 which is 2x38W UL.

I guess it should be a pretty fine/musical combination and plenty power even in a bigger room.

Joel, I am currently using the Dialogue HP for my Harbeth 30.2 anniversary models. It is plenty of power in UL and I typically listen in Triode mode at 35w. My room is definitely not small! It is 30x30 feet.

I never feel that I am running out of power. I also have the Luxman 590AXII MKII which is 30w into 8 and 60w into 4 ohms in pure Class A but can peak into the 170w if need be as it leaves Class A biasing. Neither amp struggles at all.

The P3 would be placed with the Dialogue HP into a much smaller room so it obviously would be even easier for it.

It is something I have in mind as a project so it may materialize unless something else comes up.

Sorry I wasn’t familiar with your current set up, thanks for the details!

I’d love to try out the Luxman once, heard and read so many good things about their line of amps (and also DACs and SACD players).

Your project is looking good

The class A Luxman is so close to the Triode mode of the Prima Luna that it stopped making sense to rotate both amps in the same system. At least with the Harbeth speakers. You know Harbeth speakers are a bit less on the ultra-resolving side and a bit more on the natural, organic sounding midrange and a very well behaved tweeter and smooth high end response.

Perhaps with a more resolving speaker there would be more a of an appreciable difference but... I do like them both just the way they are and I absolutely love the Harbeth speakers.

I’ve had the Dynaudio Special Forty and the ProAc SM100, although smaller speakers so not a direct comparaison, to my ears both are more resolving than the 30.1s, with the SM100s closer to the 30.1s than to the S40s... but in the end I’m also a midrange guy!

I have not auditioned the ProAc SM100 but the Dynaudio Special 40 I got a chance to listen to a few times. Lovely speaker but the 30.2 wins for my taste. I think I may have preferred the S40 had it been a decade earlier. You know our taste even in speaker changes over time.

I have a luxman M700u powering my sHL5s XD’s and it sounds superb. It is extremely detailed, but not analytical. The most amazing aspect of these speakers to me is how encompassing and satisfying they are at low volumes. You really still hear it all unlike any other speakers I have owned. I really hear every nuance in the recording and the image never seems to be coming from the speakers. These really are quite extraordinary.
