Default Grandson visiting

Wow, my 5 year old grandson has been with us since this past Sunday. This has been the third year he has spent a week with us in the summer and it seems to be getting harder as he/we grow older!

I seem to forget the boundless energy of such a young child. I wish I had half of it! Laura is a teacher and not one of the year long ones so she is off for a bit. I work nights. Vacation is out of the question for me since I just received a promotion and trying to straighten out the mess is part of the job. Since they don't want to do anything but sleep at midnight, all the fun stuff is during the day.

So at 6:00 AM he wakes us up for the days activities. It is amazing seeing that bright, smiling face through the fog of little sleep. Such a pleasure to take such small delights in helping with his breakfast and getting dressed. He thinks it it quite funny watching me stumble around until I have at least one cup of coffee. He calls our stereo gear 'Dzia-dzia toys" (Ja-ja, in Polish for granddad) and I have only been able to find one tiny fingerprint on the glass! The shape of the basement is a different story. Looks like a tornado went through it! Which is ok because even when my adult children visit the same thing happens. They all need a place to play and be kids no matter how old they are.

It is satisfying seeing the good job my son and daughter are doing in raising him. Manners and a great attitude for his age is priceless.

I haven't posted much this week and have to wrap this up for today. We're going to ride go-carts and have lunch before I go to work.

Gordon

He'll remember these times, and your devotion to him, for the rest of his life.

Agreed! If you have time, take some photos or videos. When they grow up, show them the photos/videos, they would love it.

Sounds like your having a wonderful time with your grandson.

There is nothing better then hanging with grandpa. I have fond memories of my time with my grandfathers.

I'm certain you grandson will have wonderful memories of this time together with you.

That's what I was doing today too. Our 10 year old Granddaughter is finishing her third week with us before she fly's back home Saturday. I drove about 500 miles today to the Sand Dunes on the west side of the state. Dune buggy rides followed by walking the edge of Lake Michigan and her first driving a Kart alone. I am wearing out too.

My daughter (10) just walked in the door from golf camp with Grampa and Gramma for a week. She came home with a new set of clubs, so I guess that means I'm supposed to take her now! She has a nice tan; about 32-35 Celsius every day (90-95 F)

Go carts were fun yesterday! We were in a cart built for two and he enjoyed the heck out of it!!

Today I was off so the the waterpark was on list of things to do. Damn I had a good time being a kid again Sometime I get so wrapped up in life that I forget how to have a good time. And to think it took a five year old to snap me back into reality!!
