Ok. Resurrecting this thread. I have a new Co-Motion Siskiyou tourer on order. One can’t just listen to music exclusively in retirement.

I'll say it again; ebikes for one, ebikes for all. Don't be a square man, there's peddlin' aplenty for newcomers and veteran's.

Cool - what drivetrain are you going to get?

I’m loving my sram 1x12 - but that’s a mountain bike application. The Rohloff and Pinion options look interesting if you don’t need the range. I find I’m liking more range, especially on the low end.

Just got back from a week of mountain biking - mostly 28 mile days on flowey single track in Arizona. Wonderful!

Going with the pinion and a carbon belt - no more chains and no more derailleurs! Of course, if it goes bust, I’ll wish for a chain and a derailleur that I could fix with pliers and chicken wire if needed.

I think that’s a great choice for an adventure bike. My Surly Wednesday fatbike derailleur gets all iced up in snow so I’ve looked at the Gates belt drive systems as an alternative. Be interested in what you find when you get your bike.

I bought my first AD Vent Noir in 1980. I eventually killed it trying to extract a stuck seat post. I was bummed.

This one showed up on CL and I bought it last summer.

Hand brazed Reynolds 531 frame, Dura Ace Black Groupo, original Regina Oro chain, Gold Anodized Fiamme Tubular rims etc.

It was lightly ridden and well maintained. A few of the decals are showing wear. I’ll leave it like that. It’s an everyday rider. All it needed was the bearings re-greased and a general tune up. I replaced the original tubular rims and tires with clinchers. I also replaced the original pedals with new Shimano SPD pedals to match my other bikes.

It is a blast to ride - very responsive and smooth as well. 14-22 rear means not a lot of range. But enough.
