Paul, thanks for more details. I'm unable to AB test and I feel much too guilty to buy online and return. I'm probably getting an N10, that is if my dealer can even get me a demo. And I've been waiting for a demo for about a month. I'm pretty sure it won't happen.

Hello Lars -
We too had Comcast issues. The tech was able to test the internal wiring separately, and concluded it was the line to the house from the street (about 150 feet). Problem solved with a new line from the pole to the house. The cable had become water logged over the years and thus highly lossy. You might keep pushing them on this.

Also, your internal wifi/ethernet network should not depend on the WAN (wide-area-network, i.e. Comcast). Sounds like you have already split out the modem and wifi/router boxes. You should be able to disconnect the cable modem and still have full internal ethernet (i.e. LAN) and wifi working. Sorry if this has been tried already.

The idea to check the line from the pole to the house is a good one.
Also, is Directv available in your area? They offer satellite internet in some markets. That would an option other than Comcast.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have another service call in to Comcast. But I may just re wire the whole house to be sure. Whatever it is is now affecting the tv signal also. But in the meantime, I bought an N100H for the bedroom and ordered a SilenZio for the family room. The N100H has already helped a lot. The internet drop outs don’t affect me once the albums are initially set to play. So at least my music continues to play now. And, as luck would have it, finally, I bought an open box that didn’t have the hard drive wiped clean. I ended up with a whole lot of classic rock and jazz pre loaded for me.

It is, in fact (metro-west Boston) - Direct TV.
I have looked at it from time to time and a few people have it around us. Typically bundled with AT&T cellular, not too great for us.
But since the cable feed to the house was replaced, our connection has become fast and reliable. We routinely hit >200 Mega-bits/second in speed tests.

As with many people we are moving to streaming. I think the next move would a digital antenna for local content and internet only.

Sounds like a good move. Be interesting to hear your thoughts on the two units once up and running.
