I have hear the ARC combo previously and was very impressed. From a cost perspective, they are approx the same with offsetting my existing McIntosh against the ARC. Does it just come down to personal preference or is one combo sonically better than the other?
I think the Xp20 is cheaper than the C1100 the 501 is not a current amp I think.
Also Xa160.8 is very different price and performance than 501

I was perfectly happy with my Mac amp and C1000 with Wilson until I heard an ARC Ref 5 Ref 110 combo at a dealer. Sold Mac, bought ARC. Have since updated my ARC equipment. I'm so happy that I had the good fortune of stopping by that dealer.

ARC plus Wilson is a popular pairing. I like BAT plus Wilson even more!

I am nearing completion of building a hi-end pair of bookshelf speakers for my holiday house and looking to utilise a McIntosh C1100 and MC452 combination to drive them. While I am extremely happy with the ARC system I have, I would also like to be able to interchange ARC<->McIntosh during the year to mix it up.

How would the C1100/MC452 suit the Sasha's?

It will be good, but I feel that the arc will have more depth and texture. Better midrange too. I used to have a c2300/mc452 combo. Then ref5se/ref75 combo with my Sasha's. (Sasha 1 at that time)
