Ortofon Cadenza Bronze w/tubes
I had a Cadenza bronze with 3D arm and it wasn't tubes or no tubes, it was the bronze with the 3D arm. I hated it. The bronze with the 3D was way too warm for my liking. I tried it with my buddies metal armtube and it was much better. At the time I had a pair of Pass XA100.5's with XP20 on a VPI Prime. Can't remember the phono stage right now. I honestly liked the liveliness of the red over the warm. I now have the A95 and couldn't be happier with it paired to the Avenger. Equipment now is all Zesto Audio gear which I LOVE.

Bobs devices aren't bad but not my top pick. If your looking to integrate it into the table it's about the only choice but I wouldn't choose it for ultimate sound quality Last edited by Avid; 12-13-2016 at 10:40 PM. |

That depends upon the design of the phono stage. Some include step up transformers for the MC stage, while others use additional active gain.

In one of the systems I am familiar with, I had a Cadenza Bronze (mounted on a ProJect Xtension 10) connected to a PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium HP integrated.
And I still preferred having a Tube DS phono preamp to the RS Phono (flagship but solid state) phono stage - both from ProJect. You can't have too many tubes

It looks like the Bronze/3D arm is a popular combo with VPI fans. I think I'll pull the trigger on this. I see many people who were using the Bronze on the Prime w/the 3D arm.

That's the exact combo I had and it was way too warm. I have no idea why people like it, assuming they haven't heard enough gear or they have an overly bright system they are trying to fix with an overly warm setup Last edited by Avid; 12-14-2016 at 03:58 AM. |

Or it could be that we all have different preferences and it's not that they're all rubes who haven't heard enough gear?

I disagree. Most people say the best cart or phono or whatever is the one they have. That's a forum fact. People who spend a lot of money on something are even more likely to say it's the best. Your the one who asked the question. I am just trying to help you out. Spend the money. You will love it... then get bored in 6 months and buy something else. My prediction, your welcome to prove me wrong

I guess we will agree to disagree. I did ask for opinions, but having your opinion doesn't make you right and that everyone else clearly hasn't heard enough gear to be as educated as you.
