Dan.....no problem, I hope it shed some light on the matter.

BTW the Fosgate works nicely with the cadenza, I don't find it too tipped up with the 100 ohm loading.....

I owned the Fosgate Signature for a short while. Bought it last year without auditioning it as folks i trust who are used to $10k+ phono stages said it competed in that range. First, it is beautiful and well built. Easy on the eyes especially when powered on. Second it is a tube rollers dream and swapping out tubes makes a big difference (telefunken 6922 tightened up bass and added treble extension). Third, it did have audible tube rush when compared to my super quiet Herron VTPH-2 phono stage. Fourth, its bass extension and front to back sound stage depth is best I have heard from my vinyl. Fifth, it struggled a bit with my low output mc cartridge Benz LP-S vs the Herron. For high output mc and any mm it would be my go-to. I sold it because my Herron was quieter, more transparent and more resolving with my Benz cartridge. Now that I have other arms, cartridges, SUTs i wish i had kept it.

This discussion about cart loading is interesting.
For some mysterious reason, with the same cart, I heard much more differences between different loadings with the REF2 phono than with the C1000....and moreover, I can't really an optimal position for my cart.
On some records I'm at 50 ohms while on others, 100 or 200 ohms sound better.
For hard rock, 47k is the best....
With the C1000, the difference between 50 and 1000 ohms was less clear.

new Fosgate owner here as well and I agree with respect to 'stage depth' (noticeable improvement over my ARC PH-5 which is out to ARC for repairs)

I've had to play around a bit with loading (presently listening @ 200 ohms) to get the bass properly focused. My cart is a Benz Micro Glider SM, running through an Aries III with 10.5i arm.

I did reposition a 12AT7 in place of the 12AX7 in position V3 but I'm waiting for more time on the unit before I make any other changes.

congrats on your fosgate.....Did you notice a bit more detail with the 12AT7 in the V3 position?

There is no 200 ohm loading and know you meant 300 ohm.....try putting the 12AX7 back in V3 position and move the loading to 500 ohms....I tried that with a Benz woody as it has the same loading as the glider and it sounded pretty good. happy Listening!

Jeff, it was a forced situation............initial 12ax7 that was provided went bad right away, so in went the 12at7

I found the bass to get focused and tighten up when I put two telefunken 6922s in where I think there was option of two different types of tubes. Made a bigger difference than moving stock tubes around that came with it. When the Telefunken NOS went in, it became much more articulate, focused and extended if I remember correctly. Wish I hadn't sold it.

I had mine for a little over one year and sold it to save space and was planning to upgrade my C-2200. I did not make a preamp change and regret selling.

skroudo.......By all reviews, the Fosgate Signature Phono stage is excellent. Looking forward to your comments once you have it in your system.
