Bartók - Bluebeard's Castle
Budapest Festival Orchestra, Iván Fischer

Recorded in 2003 (Philips) and reissued by Channel Classics.
We saw this piece live last month, with the same forces (even Bluebeard was still the same singer).
Very nice performance and recording.

Ludwig van Beethoven - String Quartets op. 59 "Razumovsky" - String Quintet op. 29
Kuijken Quartet

Played on modern instruments.

I have fond memories of this set.
On my birthday party earlier this year, Sigiswald performed Bach live in my living room.
Afterwards my wife and I sat with him and his wife (who plays the second viola on the Quintet here) to talk a bit, and drink a (good) glass of wine.
Then he wanted to hear the strange speakers and tubes in our living room for a couple of minutes.
We listened to this recording in 5.0, and eventually finished the whole first disc.
He and his wife commented on the musical details, how it all went in the studio and some little facts.
His impression on the sound: "Wow, this is almost as good as the real thing!!".
I found that a pretty encouraging comment!

I enjoyed that last set so much I decided to stay with van Beethoven:

Beethoven - The 'Late' String Quartets
Tokyo String Quartet

SACD 1: String Quartet no. 13 & 14

I cherish these performances...
(As well as the recordings).

Default Wolfie!!

I don't know about you guys, but a Mozart album usually gives me a sensation of joy.
When played well, it often has a freshness, lightness yet depth that is irresistible.
This disc certainly has these qualities in abundance.

Default Geminiani, F: Sonatas for Violoncello & Basso Continuo

A disc recommended by Bart...

Geminiani, F: Sonatas for Violoncello & Basso Continuo, Op. 5 Nos. 1-6
Bruno Cocset (cello & direction)
Les Basses Réunies

Just beautiful cello music accompanied by continuo. It seems like anything by Cocset and Les Basses Réunies is outstanding

Carlos, glad you like it!
My amp maker Cédric pointed me towards Cocset.
I'm very grateful.
All his discs are well recorded also.
