Default Shelby Cobra Project

Ok all you car enthusiasts. Help me get inspired. Just like the title says, if the project gets off the ground, it will be a "Shelby Cobra Project".

Spending money on a "real" vintage Cobra is NOT an option!

Factory Five Racing produce a reputable and world class Cobra kit I'm told. Like many products it comes in a variety of assembly to better suit the builders skill level etc. And in engineering terms the structural architecture is well thought out and planned so you won't find yourself having to get the torch out to modify surprises along the way.

Superformance the way to go IMHO. Order a crate motor from Keith Craft, get a good builder and a nice paint job and you're golden Just be careful. 500+ HP, short wheelbase, 2400lbs car = danger.

Of course Shelby continuation series not bad either.

I did a ton of research and almost pulled the trigger a few years back. Perhaps I live vicariously through you

Here we go....

First question.... WHY?

Answer: Cobra needs no introduction...The Cobra has been for me as I am sure for many car enthusiasts an iconic sports car that no matter what age you are, makes your heart skip a beat when you see one, makes you grin when you hear one and makes your pulse race when you drive one (not that I've spent any significant time behind the wheel of one yet). I've always been very attracted to the overall shape of the Cobra and of course the British roadster AC ACE it was built on. Leave it to American legend Carroll Shelby to shoehorn a Ford V8 putting out around 500+HP into a small British roadster where a 100hp engine normally resided and go racing and quite successfully at that!

The more I thought about the idea, the more I like it. A RAW, adrenaline pumping car that looks great, sounds great and is a real thrill to drive. Obviously just a weekend toy and should be a FUN car to drive to cars and coffee and group drives!

Yep, no ABS, no traction and stability controls, no air conditioning, just wind in your hair, RAW and PURE, adrenaline machine.

Research has begone!

I'm not a Cobra expert but in my mind it needs to be a BIG BLOCK, 427 cid all the way with two four barrels or four Weber's. Now that get my engine racing

A 427 is certainly an attractive component of the build out. The motor choice needs to be researched thoroughly.
