I saw this on another forum but I can't remember where, but it was my inspiration for building an equipment rack using granite shelves and either wood or metal struts. I had read somewhere that granite can introduce a ping or ringing to the system, but having seen yours I decide to ignore that. Can you comment on that and did you make the rack yourself, I just love it and would like to know if you have plans for making one.
Hi drgalexo, my diy rack was built by my friend Jocelyn the same that rebuilt my Acoustat's, this is a small rack 48x20x20 inches BUT it weighs over 300 pounds, the original racks that he builds come with wood shelves like in one of the photos BUT i chose granite, the rack is all 2x3 steel and the posts are filled with steel dust & covered in mahogany hard wood, i live in a condo all floors have two layers of wood on a cement base, this rack is dead quiet believe me.

PS:First picture is my Chord duo & rack - second picture was taken before the new floor was laid down, third & fourth picture is the base of an Acoustat model 6 ( marble & wood ) the last one was made for a pair of 1+1s just like mine but this one is mahogany, more photos here - - - Flickr: mracoustat's Photostream

Hi Dan, ceiling is 8 feet speakers are 7 feet 10 inches just enough for the tilt.

Hi there: Is there a way to get in touch with your friend Joceyln? I'd love to talk to him about some 1+1s that I'm working on. Thanks!
