Not necessarily higher end but when I think or see the term 'a classic rock' speaker, the images that come to mind for cranking out endless effortless hours of Seger are PSB Stratus Goldi's, or Klipsch Cornwall III's and if you really wish to get nutty, what about Cerwin Vega's. Sure, dorm room oriented but for Zepplin or Jethro Tull, they'll crank.
But I may be WAY off here when I see Shindo in the same thread. EDIT..my definition of rock differs from the OP.

Cornwall III hits far above it's weight class, especially with rock n' roll IMO

I've had some PSB Stratus speakers in the past...very nice sounding speakers, but not the most detailed or lively, bit of a mid-bass hump and not-so-well defined soundstage. At least, in comparison to the capabilities of Shindo gear. My guess...the purpose here is to rock, but to do so while retaining a refined sound. Most speakers that are common to Shindo gear would seem to fit the bill.
My Verity speakers certainly rock while maintaining the refinement I like, whether it be classic or modern rock (as long as the recording is well mastered) - but I'm using a VTL power amp. |
