I imagine there are lots of things such as the quality of the power supply, the clock, vibration control, circuit design, etc, that can make a difference. It's not just the chip, it's the implementation that matters.

True. I guess we will find out when someone gets to compare the two. It's just interesting that when you compare both product diagrams, you can see how similar the design is.

I own the K-03x and have been using the BDP-2 via BNC to RCA into the K-03x DAC. I really like the sound just a much as the CD side. I also like the convenience of having network access via ipad to my ripped cd's.

I was thinking of just going with a good DAC, and the N-05 looked really interesting, as the D-02 is out of my range.

I get my N-05 on Friday! Heard it at the shop and was floored by how good it was out of the box even when the demo unit was only 2 days old. I've been on the fence on a network player for a long time but the fact that its an esoteric AND i can run this with my G01 clock sealed the deal.

Will update once its in my system

I think it will give the K03X a close run, given that it has a superior transport File players implemented properly simply sounds much better than equivalent disk spinners
