Around where I live just finding an FM station that still plays music is a real challenge. Seems like everything these days is just Jaberwocky.

The FM band sure isn't what it was. I remember before the loudness wars when some FMs actually promoted their sound quality and playlists barely existed. Listening could be a real adventure! Today we have mostly cookie-cutter formats with voicetracked announcers and compressed audio.

But there are still a few bright spots, at least where I live. I really wouldn't want to have to give up FM.

Most fortunate to have a few good FM stations within reach where I live. Especially WRTI, 90.1 out of Temple University and WXPN, 88.5 out of the University of Pennsylvania.

You're lucky. Down here in NOLA land, WRNO (99.5) was affectionately known as "The Rock of New Orleans." Those were the days. The sound was so good and the station played all the cool music for the late 60's and 70's.

Then sadly, they dumped their roots and started hosting Rush Limbaugh. After his death they didn't change. It's been nothing but talk, talk, talk.

I'm so over FM.

Tulane's station (91.5) isn't worth listening to? There are a couple of shows that I try not to miss on WRTI and WXPN. Would think WTUL would be similar.

Once our wonderful congress (the finest money can buy) was bought up by the media, who then changed the laws to allow conglomerates to purchase multiple stations in multiple markets (some in the thousands), radio (TV & newspapers, as well) was doomed in all but the largest markets, where independent stations could survive.

WTUL's signal is too weak to pick up well where I live 45 miles away.

Arrived, installed and sounding good. To my ears, FM HD is superior to the same music/station streamed (at MP3 level).

XM requires a couple of other "antenna(?)" to receive the Sirius signal. I'll have to do a bit of study on exactly what before I get there.
