You can say that again...

@puma_cat thankyou for setting me straight on no qr-bb in sigma/alpha v2 nr. i inferred the inclusion based on this from their website.
"Shunyata Research’s new Reference NR & XC Series v2 power cords were developed using the same materials science and technologies that make the Omega QR the market’s ultimate cost-no-object power cord." Omega remains the king of the hill i presume (shunyata seem to be reasonable about pricing such that if omega is still being sold and is more expensive than sigma v2 then fair to say omega is better). Who has been privileged enough to compare Omega and Sigma v2? maybe one day we will see a thread about that. |

sorry to double post but just wanted to add @puma_cat that i perhaps got muddled about qr-bb from your wonderful review of the sigma v2. i quote relevant text below. in hindsight you were clearly indicating how good the sigma v2 was by favourably comparing it to devices which use the qr-bb tech. what's interesting now is if the v2 breakthru is so good they leave off the qr-bb in future iterations. the amount of development is fantastic.
"The new Sigma NR v2 PC brings the type and nature of presentation that I've only experienced from Shunyata devices that have the QR/BB technology. If you've never experienced what a Triton V3, Typhon QR, Denali, etc. brings to the equation, all I can say is that the classic audiophile terminology we've used for the last 40 years simply does not apply any more. Put quite simply, you have to experience it to "get it". " |

Yes, you are right that I referenced the QR/BB technology in my Sigma NR V2 review. What I should have included, in retrospect, is the point tha the Sigma NR v2 (as well as Sigma XC) PCs provides current delivery that allows the performance of the QR/BB device inside the Denali V2 to be fully "realized". While you certainly can experience the unique qualities of QR/BB with the Venom XC, NR-V10, or Delta NR v2 power cords (and they provide SOTA performance within their respective price classifications), the new Alpha and Sigma XC and NR v2 series of power cords, respectively, provide the "turbocharging" of current delivery that allows the QR/BB device to perform to its full(best) potential. Think of it as installing a larger throttle body on to the fuel injection system on a superbly designed high-performance sports car motor. The intrinsic performance of the motor is there, but its full performance is more fully realized using a larger throttle body. Hope that helps. Cheers.

I just received two Alpha V2 cables and replaced the Delta V1 cables in my Mac amps. I really wasn’t sure what to expect but was struck on the first track I played how much better these cables were in a few ways...
The first thing I noticed was the speed that these cables brought to the music and any edginess to certain tracks that I’d previously noticed was now gone. The music now seemed to flow effortlessly and there was a definite increase in presence to the music, yet a smoothness. Others in my family listened with me over the weekend and said the music seemed nicer, smoother and bigger... Once again Caelin and his team at Shunyata need to be congratulated on another sensational product! No hesitation recommending these cables! Will be interesting to see whether they make the most difference on the amps, where they are now, or on the components (until I’ve got the $’s to upgrade all my V1 cables)! Enjoy! |

The Alpha V2 cables are wonderful, shocking what they will do for any amplifier, powered speaker, power supply or front end component! Glad they worked out well for you! I saw a video on Audioholics in the past week. Gene normally puts forth many videos that I enjoy. This one goes to great lengths to explain how powercords don't make a difference which I disagree vehemently with... The Alpha V2 cables are proof positive how wrong he and others are on this! |

Cheers mate! You know the first thing I thought of after hearing these cables was how do people possibly believe that they make no difference. All I can say is that they haven’t heard Shunyata power cables!! |
