Default Greetings from Southern Ontario

I've been very busy for quite a while now but I suppose its high time I introduced myself here on AA, a very entertaining and informative site.

I first got the bug for home audio around age 18 during the early 70's and my first half decent system consisted of a Marantz 1060 integrate, (which I still have), a Pioneer PL12D tt, and a pair of Cerwin Vega with their typical 12" bass drivers.
At the time I was also really into dance music and the nightclub scene and within a year or so I was working as a nightclub DJ. I then spent the next 7 years full-time 6 nights a week as a DJ working my way up from evening bars and then Toronto after-hours clubs. Those years during the disco hay-days of the 70's were the most enjoyable career I ever had. It also allowed me access to a huge amount of promotional records directly from the labels, not to mention all the other... um, unmentionable perks of the biz. Ah yes, those were the days...
To this day I still have a very occasional night-dream of playing a club and having what is actually a DJ's worst nightmare - a record fading to dead air before getting the next one cued up.

Anyway, I'm still a huge fan of home audio (among other expensive hobbies) and I'm pretty happy with my current system, but as with many of you, the upgrade bug is always lurking somewhere.

As soon as I get a chance I'll post some pics in the 'Members System Forum', or maybe also the 'McIntosh show us your system' thread.

Thanks for reading

Mortis...

Welcome to AA.!!!

Your DJ's worst nightmare is not unusual. As a former Radio Personality (Fancy way of saying DJ) I've had those similar wake from a dead sleep nightmare a time or two even 25 years later... Why in my dream didn't I have the next song ready, I'll never know... lol

Jimmy
