Plus, it will be without TacT; the Room EQ system. Bad!

Plus, its little brother, its predecessor, the UMC-1 was a big pain in the a$$!

No, thank you very much but no, thank you.

And, before we can speculate, before we can say this or that, right now there is only vapor in the air;
seems like that's what's mostly selling over there.
Ouch

Hey Derek, just go over there at their Emotiva forum (called The Lounge),
and say Onkyo (just as an example), and you'll get exactly that!

Absolutely true!

You get much more than you pay for with their amps. I own one. The box the power rides in looks cheap to me. The RCA jacks on the back are weak. The power is clean. For HT movies it would be hard to tell the difference, and the Emotiva might sound better than some high dollar amps, because of the extra power. XPA-1 1000 watts 4ohms

2 channel: Try it with their liberal return policy. The XPA's are surprisingly good amps!
My speakers, ears and pro reviews/tests all say the same thing!
Buy them and hide them.

-- Yes, some of their amps are good value; not the last drop in quality, but good enough for the money. ...I own the XPA-2 and XPA-5 myself, and I hate the RCA jack connectors! Gimme Tiffany RCA jacks, nothing else should be installed with the XPA Series.
The blue lights? I don't give a damn as I can easily hide them.

BUT! There are some very good reasons why they cost less; Internet dealer, amplification circuitry implementation, and China made. Plus no safety label (they save money there too).
Like I said, they aren't the last drop in quality sound performance.

What they do is to play loud (they also have a much higher gain than other amps); a trick used to fool you in your imagination.

Yup, or they are made to use with cheap receivers with low input impedance.

But what truly amazes me is the bank of capacitors (low voltage, and not implemented for top efficiency). ...The transformer is the main power delivery.

Anyway, only the XPA-1 monoblocks could be mated with some high-end loudspeakers.
But then, they make noise by expanding and contracting! ...The heatsinks.
Nothing's perfect; you get what you pay for, no more.

For home theater duties where a lot of power is required, and where sound quality is not the essential priority,
the XPA Series are just fine.

I don't care for their speakers (never tried them and never will).
I also don't care for their CD players and DACs (read some bad stories that are enough to stay far away).
And absolutely not on their pre/pros (surround sound processors).
Emotiva is simply not equipped for that.

Emotiva is limited on the clientele they can truly serve and serve well.
It's like a cult, a clan of fanatics, without clues on what's up there on the higher and better echelons of life. They try too much IMO at expanding on what they should stick with in the first place; power amps.

That's my overall opinion regarding Emotiva. ...I could write a book, but I just won't.

Sounds like a pretty complete explanation of them. Thanks!

Derek, I followed Emotiva's evolution right from the very beginning.
Plus, I was, and still am, the top gun poster at their forum website.

And I know stuff that I simply prefer to keep for myself.

But I will always help my friends to the best of my abilities and knowledge,
without any prejudice.

This is spot on. I use to own 9 (yes, 9) of their amps (XPA-1's and UPA-1's), plus an assortment of their other gear for my HT. Nice people, good customer service, so-so products. This thing with the XMC-1 has become a joke. This first prototype surfaced over 2 years ago. It was supposed to be shipping a year ago. I had one on order for my Dad and I gave up last month and got him the Marantz 7007. They are indeed having lots of problems - just like they did with their first Pre-pro go around.
