Thanks for the phone number. I contacted the distributor and he referred me to a dealer in N.Y.. I called the dealer, but the salesman that is most familiar with Luxman won't be there until tomorrow.

audio bill,
I don't have the opportunity to hear the Luxman M900u or C-900u prior to purchase, so I would love your opinion. I'm thinking of selling my 625 S2 for the M900u and keeping my Corus preamp for now. My room is 20' x 26' and my speakers are Monitor Audio PL500 IIs. I listen to mostly contemporary Jazz. Do you think the M900u is enough to drive my speakers? I'm looking for more separation between instruments and a deeper soundstage when the recording permits. I know you had the 625, please describe the differences between it and the M900u regarding the soundstage and all important mid-range.

Dear Ricjor1

While I do not have direct experience of these particular models from my knowledge comparing at home the new Luxman 509x(using components from the C900U pre) and the JR Continuum S2(using the Capri s2 pre stage) I think you may be better served by selling the Corus and getting the C900U while keeping the 625 S2. The pre, in my experience really sets the sound you get and from all that I have read and heard in the 509X the C900U is an exceptional pre amp. I too am looking at the C900U/M900U combination but at the moment I only have integrated alternatives. The Luxman 509X is the best integrated amp I have heard. Difficult for me to think you would be unhappy with the Luxman 900 combination but if you have to do the change in steps the Jeff Rowland 625S2 is likely to be a top performer which provided there are no obvious matching issues(cannot see that there are) would be very well served by the C900U. Jeff Rowland make great components no doubt about it but with its latest top range equipment Luxman has something exceptional IMO and the C900U seems the pick of the crop.

Huyabusa,

I talked to a dealer a couple of weeks ago that carries Rowland and Luxman. He said to start with the amp and actually told me to keep the Corus. The bottom line is I have to hear the components in my own system before I do anything. I'm not saying this is the case, but I've read many people say component X destroys Y . When I hear it in my system I hear differences, but neither destroys the other. My other concern is my Monitor Audio PL 500's are on the slightly dark side of neutral. It's my understanding that Luxman errors on the slightly dark side of neutral and that wouldn't be a good combination. I'm not in a hurry to do anything. I'm really happy with my system.

One thing is certain, I am sure I too would be very happy with a Corus/625S2 combination! Happy listening

Well it seems that no one is ever truly content in this hobby no matter what they have. I think being active on the various forums exacerbates the thoughts that something else is better. Although I'm content, I'm trying to find a way to hear the Luxman amp/preamp combination in my system.

I don't want anyone thinking that I ignored Rick's request above, we ended up speaking directly about his concerns since I felt they were better addressed verbally rather than via a forum post.

Default Excuse, that I interfere, but, in my opinion, this theme is not so actual.

In my opinion, you on a false way.
